Regarding Andy…from a thankful parent
A.W. - a well deserved thank you for all you've done for our girls. Night
after night we see their names in the paper, major impact players for Lahser,
Rochester, Adams, Marian, GPS, Unity, Grand Blanc, Stoney Creek, Ligget, EK. You
raised them well (with some help from their neurotic parents) - leaders,
skilled, confident, team players. Many have been with you since they were 9 -10
years old. You've given us all memories of a lifetime!!! Thanks again A.W. It's
been great!!

I played in BHYSL for 6 years. I attended one of Coach Wagstaff's first
sessions in Bloomfield when I was 8 years old. He coached me at Lahser to the
Michigan High School State Championship Final just prior to my entering
residency with the Under 17 U.S. Men's National Team. He remains one of my
favorite coaches of all time and was an important factor in my success as a
player. After playing for many coaches at Vardar, Michigan Wolves, Regional ODP
and U.S. National teams, Coach Wagstaff's knowledge and professionalism stands
out as something I will always remember.

Andy Wagstaff was a Liverpool FC Academy coach for the Under 7/8 age
groups. I knew Andy as a work colleague, as I am a Senior Talent Scout with
Liverpool FC Academy and as a parent as he coached the age group that included
my son. Andy came to the club and immediately developed an excellent
relationship with both the players and their parents, offering professional
feedback, guidance and development support to all. His coaching style was very
friendly but always disciplined, the sessions were varied and always maintained
the interest of the boys.
This discipline was instrumental in the progress and development of both
the group and my son, the blend of technical work, football awareness and
structured games, allowed each individual to develop their game and technical
ability, to meet the stringent levels required by a football academy in the UK.
My son, and numerous other members of the Liverpool FC Academy squad, who
are still with the club, have the utmost respect for a coach of Andy’s
ability, and his decision to return to the USA was a sad loss to Liverpool FC,
the players and the parents, but undoubtedly a gain to the US, and all the
players that he will have contact with.

I was fortunate to play on the Michigan ODP team under Andy's coaching
staff. He not only pushed us to be good technically, but to try for a bigger
picture of the field. Not only did I feel challenged to compete at a higher
level, but Andy also desired for me to have confidence in my own playing
abilities. He took time to encourage me into positions of leadership,
reaffirming that I had the skills to be playing, talent to become more, and the
possibility to be recognized as such. Playing for Andy stretched my style of
play and pushed me to the next stage of development.
I've now concluded my third season as a starting defender on Ball State's
Women's Soccer team.

Junior midfielder Dani Haelewyn scored five of Stoney Creek's six goals
during the tournament.
"The biggest question mark is who's going to be our key scorer,"
said Rodger, the only head coach in program history. "After this weekend,
it looks like it could be Dani.
"I'm hoping Dani will give us some punch from the midfield. She's got a
very good first touch. She sees the field well, but she also can take players on
and beat them pretty handily."
